Our automata were initially created as personal amusements, and later as gifts for friends and family, but interest in them rapidly grew. It soon became apparent that their unique nature and the ability to give each one a personal significance through the scene portrayed, set them apart as a truly unique gift which will continue to amuse and delight, year after year. Since those humble beginnings, we have produced automata for people in all walks of life. These include doctors, surgeons, dentists, lawyers, plumbers, priests and many other professional groups and hobbyists. Each one of these portrays a unique scene which is particuar to the recipient and never fails to delight and amuse all who watch it.
Evolving technology has allowed us to create complexity and quality at a far lower cost than was previously accessible. This means that we are now able to envision a range of scenes, actions and sounds that are only constrained by the imagination. However, we remain true to the spirit of the original automata creators by employing traditional materials, processes and mechanisms where appropriate
Whether you are considering an automaton for yourself or as a gift for someone else, the process relies heavily on some knowledge of the recipient. It works much like creating a cartoon or a caricature. You may already have a scene in mnd that captures an amusing tale about, or for your gift recipient. But if not, that's fine, we can create some suggestions for you. All we need are some details about them. For example, what is their profession? Or what are their hobbies or interests.
Once a concept has been agreed, we will work out the details of what is to be portrayed. For example, what are the specific actions that the automaton will take, what music or sounds will accompany it. These are then agreed and we will begin the process of creating the automaton for you.
